Back From Tour!

13/06/2022

I’m back from the UK Tour of If This Is Normal. I had such a wonderful time getting back on the road with a team and presenting a show to live audiences. Shout out to my Mum who came along and sorted out all the logistics that I’m rubbish at and my Dad who drove a car full of actors to Bristol first thing in the morning - in fringe theatre you take all the help you can get and I’m lucky to have such an ace family who are happy to get their hands dirty. After a couple of super tough years for theatremakers (and we’re not out of the dark yet) it was so incredible to visit amazing theatres, getting all-round fab reviews and even having my script published by Methuen.

I know that putting a show together and getting things out there is difficult at the best of times so I’m thinking about putting together some newsletters or workshops on my process this time around - do drop me a note if this is something that would be of interest to you. In the meantime I wanted to share a few tour highlights with you:

PRESS

★★★★★ ‘funny, punch & realistic’ Lifestyle District

★★★★ ‘a must watch’ Life as Theatre

★★★★ ‘fantastic, powerful play’ The Play’s the Thing

★★★★ ‘very funny, very poignant’ North West End

‘complex, intense and dramatically satisfying’ British Theatre Guide

‘nostalgic, emotional and entirely essential’ I Love Manchester

SCRIPT

Methuen Drama published our script to accompany the UK Tour. You can purchase a discounted copy right here - we can even sign and personalise copies.

SCHOOLS CONSENT PROJECT

We were lucky to partner with the Schools Consent Project to further the conversation about sexual consent. Abi Wilson, a lawyer and the SCP’s North West Regional Manager, kindly gave up her time to come to our show in Manchester at 53two and give a post show Q&A. It was well attended and sparked some thought-provoking debate.

WORKSHOPS

In Bristol, Liverpool and Manchester we ran playwriting workshops on the topic of Creating Your Own Work Based on Personal Experience, taught by Lucy Danser. Thank you to all attendees and to Wardrobe Theatre, Samwell and 53two for facilitating. Keep on eye on our events page for upcoming sessions or get in touch directly if you’d like to book one-on-one or custom group sessions.

TRAILER

Finally, our new trailer was created from footage from our Bristol shows was created by Jack at Crown Videos:
