News: I’m Getting Published!

29.03.2022

You might have seen this news already if we follow each other on the old social medias but I thought it deserved a blog post all of its own. Like most writers I love the moment when I see my name in print but, for the most part, it’s usually something I only see digitally, as a byline on a Huffington Post article for example. Not that I’m poo-poo-ing that in the slightest please understand, I’d love that to happen more often too! Still though, the joy I feel at the knowledge that soon I will hold a physical book with my name printed on it knows no bounds.

Yes, it’s true! I’m actually being published! Methuen bought the rights to my play If This Is Normal and will be releasing a programme and script version to accompany the UK Tour that starts next month. For the last few months I’ve been updating the script throughout rehearsals, talking to proof-readers and signing off on cover artwork. Frankly, it’s been a joy even if I’m now rethinking every single word in the play!

It genuinely does mean a lot to me to have a play published. I’ve been writing for quite a few years now and though I’m so fortunate to have experienced the most important bit of playwriting -seeing my words come to life onstage many times over and talking to audience members who were moved, entertained or provoked by those words- this feels like an important step for my work.

OK, serious bit over. If you’re coming to any of the UK Tour shows you’ll be able to purchase the script and it’ll be at an extra special price! You can also purchase it directly from moi, from Bloomsbury/Methuen Drama website where it’ll also be available as an ebook or in selected stores. Thanks for reading (this and the play hopefully!).
